Tommy Ellis Sanders
April 5, 1937 - April 26, 2009
Tommy Ellis Sanders was born on April 5, 1937, to Ellis and Mallie Sanders and departed this life on April 26, 2009, at the age of 72 years and 21 days.
Tommy attended school at U.G., which is now called Cave Springs. His life’s ventures led him many miles throughout the United States to work and to be a part of the U.S. Army. But when his traveling was done, he returned and called Adair County his home. He lived for family, cooking, hunting, fishing and to be there for anyone who needed a friend. Tommy surrendered his life to Christ at Sequoyah Baptist Church in 1990. He loved to talk about God’s goodness in his life since that time and wished the same for his family and friends. His kind spirit, laughter and smiles will be greatly missed by all.
Tommy is preceded in death by parents, Ellis and Mallie Sanders, brothers, Sequoyah, Albert, Joseph and Charlie Sanders, one sister, Marie Sanders, two nephews and one niece. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce, of the home; children, Regina, of the home, Darrell Wayne and wife, Brenda, Tony and wife, Pat, Tommy Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Shawn and wife, Jodie, all of Stilwell, OK, Robert Stilwell, of the home, Randy Moss, of Tulsa, OK, Tony Moss and wife, Lisa, of Catoosa, OK, Bill Stilwell and wife, Sharon, of Greenland, AR, Andrea and Chris Cape, of Tahlequah, OK, Norma and Kenneth Littledeer, of Stilwell, OK, Loretta Holmes, also of Stilwell, OK; two sisters, Fannie Roberts, of Tulsa, OK and Wanda Smith, of Tahlequah, OK; two brothers, Donnie Sanders, of Stilwell, OK and Bill Sanders, of Poteau, OK, fifteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a special little friend, “Uno”.
