Thomas Daniel Ponder, son of James Leo Ponder and Katie Ann (Ashley) Ponder, was born on June 15, 1942 in Ardmore, Oklahoma and departed this life surrounded by family on Friday, June 26, 2020 at his home near Westville, Oklahoma at 78 years of age.
 

He attended school in Hereford, Texas and graduated from Hereford High School. 

Thomas was a hard worker.  He worked as a farmer in the Texas Panhandle for many years, prior to going to work for Borden Dairy as a home delivery milkman, later transferring to Lufkin, TX.  Thomas relocated to Borger, TX to work in the oil fields.  Upon leaving Borger, he moved to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to become a franchise owner for Wise Foods.  Thomas then operated a mechanic shop in Houston, TX, along with his brother, Sammy, prior to returning to Oklahoma, where he worked as a truck driver for Arkansas Egg for 20 years until his retirement.
 

In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed fishing, stock car racing, mechanic work and watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, as he was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. 

He was of the Baptist faith.
 

Thomas was loved by many and will be missed dearly.


His parents: James and Katie Ann Ponder, brothers: Robert Ray, Wayne and Sammy, sisters: Lavada Bennett and Linda Kay Pymm preceded him in death.


Thomas is survived by a large devoted family that includes his children: Tommy Ponder and wife Darlene of Hereford, TX, Kelley Metcalf and husband Sam of Midwest City, OK, Paula Maxwell and husband Heath of Hereford, TX, Joe Ponder and wife Keli of Wellington, TX, Katie Gooslby and husband David of Seabrook, TX, Thomas (Buster) Ponder of Houston, TX, Dejanira Hinton of the home near Westville, OK, step children: Teresa Porter-Strumm of Cushing, OK, Jimmy Porter of Stilwell, OK, Vivian Porter of Stilwell, Sandra Bollinger and husband David of Westville, OK, grandsons: Christopher Moore of Stilwell, OK and Travis Porter of the home near Westville, 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his sister: Margie Moore of Baron, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, OK with Pastor Billy Craig officiating. 

Interment followed at Chulio Cemetery, Stilwell, OK.
