Linda Sue Hummingbird the daughter of John Rufus and Etta Fern (Smith) Casteel was born January 21, 1943, in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life on November 30, 2020, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 9 days.
 

Linda Sue had an outgoing personality and a warm smile. She married John E. Hummingbird on December 4, 1964 and they served the community together as pastor and pastor's wife for many years. Linda Sue was an educator by trade, she earned a Master's Degree in Education. She loved teaching and wanted to share knowledge with everyone. She not only taught in public schools, but she loved teaching Sunday School, both children and adult Bible classes. She used her wealth of knowledge to write, and wrote many devotionals, articles for the paper and even a book of memoirs. Linda Sue enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music. She was a member of the Native Praise Choir and the Stilwell Community Choir. She loved working puzzles, sewing and quilting. She loved the Lord dearly and was eager to serve Him. She truly enjoyed sharing God's work in her daily posts. She loved her family immensly, and was proud of each of her children and grandchildren. Linda Sue made an impression on many lives over the years, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Hummingbird; and her sisters Elaine Raleigh, Joann Kester and Johnnie Ruth Hillis.
 

She is survived by a loving family which includes her children Kim Hummingbird and husband Joe Vardeman of Stilwell, Darron Scott Hummingbird and wife Toby of Coweta, and Teresa Self and husband Brad of Westville; her brothers Ivan Casteel and wife Mary of Oklahoma City and Ronnie Casteel and wife Lucinda of Bixby; her grandchildren Heather Lens and husband Chris, Cody Young and wife Lacey, Dakota Kaser and husband Christian, Justin Self and wife Steph, Montana Palmer and husband Jonathan, Joe Alex Vardeman and Arizona Hummingbird; and her three great-grandchildren Maddie Lens, Skyler Young, and Jonathan Self. Several nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives also survive her.
 

Graveside services were held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Chalk Bluff Cemetery under the direction of the Harts Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
