Melba "Earlene" Murray Hignite May 15, 1930-September 23, 2008
Melba "Earlene" Murray Hignite was born in Enid, Oklahoma on May 15, 1930, to Earl Lee Murray and Lillian Beatrice Guilliams Murray. She passed away September 23, 2008 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, four months and eight days.
Earlene attended school at East Peavine and Wright's Chapel. She helped to raise strawberries and loved to fish. She had many friends and was always a help to others. Earlene was a caring person who would give you the last thing she had. She was married to Hubert Argus Hignite in Stilwell on January 15, 1947. To this union was born two children; Sharon Faye Hignite and Hubert Daniel Hignite.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Hignite, her parents; Earl Lee and Lillian Murray, her son; Hubert Daniel Hignite and a great granddaughter; Lillian Grace Hignite.
Surviving family members include her daughter; Sharon Elliott, of Greenwood, AR; one sister, Opal Mae Murray Barenz, of Lincoln, AR; two grandsons, Daniel Lee Hignite and Brian Hignite; five great grandchildren, Haylee, Madison, Kalia, Chloe Lynn, Dannaka Lee. Numerous family and friends also survive her.
Services were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008, at Fairfield Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Sanders officiating. Intement followed at Chalk Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
