Earnest Chester Fowler, son of Charley and Truly (Helms) Fowler, was born on October 29, 1921 in Eufaula, Oklahoma and departed this life on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 19 days.
As a young child he moved several times until marrying Leona Carruth on October 24, 1941 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. They lived in the Big Ben area of Osage County until Ernie started working for Cecil Cales Family in January of 1942 in Burbank, OK.
He was an outstanding farmer and mechanic. He continued to work on the Cales farm until October 1982, when he and Leona moved to their present home at Bunch, OK. He continued to enjoy country living by growing squash, baling hay, making a big garden, mowing his yard, tinkering with his 1957 Chevy and feeding Granny’s birds.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Charley and Truly Fowler, son: Chester Dale Fowler, brothers: Clyde, J.B., Dick and Bum Fowler, Paul Simmons and sister: Thelma Snyder.
Keeping his memory is his wife: Leona Fowler of the home in Bunch, OK, sons: Jackie Fowler and wife Diana of Cashion, OK, Gail Fowler and wife Janet of Burbank, OK, daughter: Sue Phillips and husband John of Stilwell, OK, daughter-in-law: Mayetta Fowler of Ponca City, OK, 12 grandchildren: Tracy Fowler of Tonkawa, OK, Teri Thomas of Centerton, OK, Randy Fowler of Ponca City, Shelly Phippen of Cashion, Jeff Phillips of Claremore, OK, Brian Fowler of Norman, OK, Lisa Fowler of Ponca City, Leslie Dennis of Fairfax, OK, Erin Crabtree of Ward, AR, Kendall Sprague of Germany, Morgan Fowler of Ponca City, Michael Fowler of Burbank, OK, 23 great grandchildren, brothers: Bill Fowler of Big Lake, TX, Harry Fowler of Dexter, MO, sisters: Stella Davidson of Wichita Falls, TX and Mary Shaw of Tulsa, OK. Many friends and other relatives also survive him.
