Funeral services for Calvin Moss, age 85, will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Christie Southern Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
Calvin Coolege Moss, the son of Robert “Bob” Lincoln Moss and Nellie Josephine (Young) Moss, was born October 1, 1924, in Christie, Oklahoma. On February 8, 2010, he went home to be with the Lord at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 7 days.
Calvin and Ella Virginia Brown were united in marriage on May 5, 1949, in Westville, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with three children, Darrell, Alanna and David.
Calvin was a military veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a certified electrician and plumber until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW, DAV and Rural Water District #5. Calvin served as a deacon for 61 years in both Proctor Baptist Church and Christie Southern Baptist Church where he was a charter member.
His parents, three brothers, Clyde, Hurley and Dewey Moss and one sister, Josephine Moss preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Virginia Moss, of Westville; his children, Darrell and Carmen Moss, Alanna and Jerry Sanders, all of Westville, David and Gale Moss, of Highland, AR; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three sisters, Ila Littlejohn, of Tahlequah, Irene Davis, of Springdale, AR and Evelyn Pither, of Tulsa, OK, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.

Ella Virginia Moss, the daughter of Claude Elmer Brown and Thursie Alice (Martin) Brown, was born October 17, 1929, in Red Bird Hollow at Proctor, Oklahoma. She departed this life to be with her Lord on February 8, 2012, in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 22 days.
Virginia was married to Calvin Moss in Westville, Oklahoma on May 5, 1949. To this union was born three children, Darrel, David and Alanna.
She began working as an aide for Christie School while working on her education. She graduated from Northeastern State University and began her teaching career at Stilwell Public Schools, where she taught art for many years until her retirement. Virginia enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting, sewing, gardening and her flowers. She was a member of Christie Southern Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Calvin Moss, who passed away February 8, 2010, one brother, Harold Brown, and two sisters, Bernice Canada and Lafern Brown.
Her surviving family includes her children, Darrel Moss and wife, Carmen, of Westville, David Moss and wife, Gale, of Highland, AR, Alanna Sanders and husband, Jerry, of Westville; one brother, Haskel Brown, of Eldon; two sisters, Katie Langley, of Westville and Pauline Moore, of Catoosa 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Many other relatives, friends and loved ones also survive her.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Christie Southern Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
