Sep 28, 1950 - Nov 7, 2015
Posted by Jan Grooms

İRoberts Reed Culver Funeral Home

Ronald (Ron) Lee Morris was born on September 28, 1950 to Chester and Evelyn Morris in Siloam Springs, Arkansas and went to be with his maker on Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Morrilton, Arkansas.

The family relocated to Enid, Oklahoma in 1956 where Ron attended Enid public schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1969. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1970. He served as a Fire Control Technician repairing radar and weapon control systems aboard the destroyer, the USS Morton, patrolling the Tonkin Gulf off the coast of Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1976. Ron was very proud and spoke fondly of his time serving with the US Navy. Ron used his military electronics training to secure a civilian career as a Switch Technician for various landline and wireless phone companies and recently retired from the telecommunications industry. In his off time he enjoyed fishing with friends and family. When he was younger he spent time noodling for Flathead Catfish in the Salt Fork and Chikaskia Rivers. He was quick witted and always had a snappy comeback.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron is survived by his sisters: Geraldine Cordell of Tahlequah OK, Vera Morris and husband Norman Glass of Norman OK, brother: David Morris and wife Lori of Yukon, OK. He also leaves behind his Uncle Jack Baker of Oklahoma City, Aunt Geneva Baker of Portland OR and several nieces.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery, Westville, Oklahoma with Justin Heck officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts & Hart Funeral Home, Westville, OK.
