Annie Elizabeth Langley
October 28, 1913 - July 13, 2009
Annie Elizabeth Hemman Langley left this world in peace to attend the celebration in Heaven on Monday, July 13, 2009.
She was born on October 28, 1913 to Edward Theodore Hemman and Matilda Helena Witte Hemman near Miami, OK. She married George Jefferson Langley on August 8, 1930.
They moved to Adair County in 1933, where they were instrumental in the building of Jaybird Community Church, ministry to the Cherokees at Chewey, Whitmire and other communities.
Annie’s life had been lived for God’s purposes. She had a humble spirit and an enduring faith in God. She possessed a smile that mirrored her sweetness, generosity and love for her family, friends and the Lord God Almighty. She was a model of Proverbs 31: “Virtuous wife and mother”. Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, she served the Jaybird Community Church as Pastor for most of the years from 1945 to 1976, during most of these years, she taught the preschool Sunday School class, affecting many lives. She continued to be active in the church, teaching Sunday School for most of the years following.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband: George Langley on June 6, 1984, granddaughter: Bonnie Sue Kindle Dersam on October 18, 2000 and sons-in-law: Enoch Kindle and William Humphrey.
Those remaining to celebrate her life are her children: Helena Kindle of West Fork, Ar., Sam and Katie Langley, Donna and Clyde Hopping, Dan and Carol Langley, all of Westville, Wanita Humphrey of Hardin, MT. and Sharon and Tim Terry of Bonham, TX., 24 Grandchildren, 55 Great Grandchildren and 52 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Services were held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Claude McGee and Rev. Ralph Cannon officiating. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
