Lois Marie (Hastings) Elmore left this world to go to Heaven on December 8, 2012, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 29 days. She was born December 9, 1926, in Westville, Oklahoma, to Horace and Viola (Hudson) Hastings. She was one of eleven children, eight brothers and two sisters.
On March 15, 1948, Lois Marie and Charlie Arnold Elmore were married and made their home in the Chance Community. Together, they raised seven children: Mary Joyce, Terry Arnold, Michael David, Anna Belle, Norma Jean, Norman Dean “Nub” and Peggy Lou.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Elmore, son, Michael Elmore, parents, Horace and Viola Hastings, eight brothers, Forrest, Tommy, Buck, James, Joe, Gene, Chester and Bill Hastings, one sister, Alene Hardwick and one infant great grandson.
She is survived by her children, Mary Joyce Fischer, of Westville, OK, Terry Elmore and wife, Brenda, of Westville, OK, Ann Edwards and husband, Rocky, of West Fork, AR, Norma Fletcher and husband, George, of Chance, OK, Norman “Nub” Elmore and wife, Dawn, of Siloam Springs, AR and Peggy Barton, of Fayetteville, AR, one sister, Madge Ghormley and husband, Mark, of Watts, OK, sisters-in-law, Shirley Hastings, Janis Hastings, and Laverne Berry; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews and the caring nursing staff at Siloam Nursing and Rehab Center.
Lois has always been so much more than a loving wife, mother, grandmother and granny. She was the caregiver, homemaker, cook and quilter. She loved to read, fish, collect seashells and most of all, hold and rock her great grandbabies.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Roberts & Hart Memorial Chapel with Rev. Marty Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts & Hart Funeral Home.
