Grant Carson was born January 9, 1930 in Watts, Ok to Alex and Lillie (Langley) Carson. He went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2014 in Tahlequah, Ok at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Grant enlisted in the Army on March 16, 1954 where he served for 3 years. He was a diesel mechanic with the artillery division. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After his service to his country, he graduated from the Oklahoma State University of Technical Training in Okmulgee, Ok with a certificate in Diesel Mechanics in 1959. Upon graduation he worked in the oil fields in New Mexico for 29 years. In 1988, he retired and returned to Westville, Ok.
Grant enjoyed working on his farm, roping and riding his horses and mules.
Those proceeding Grant in death were his parents, brother, Lloyd Carson, sisters, Hazel Carmichael, Faye Johnson and Betty Self.
Survivors include, sister-in-law, Cherry Carson, of Westville, Ok, niece, Lenora Neff and husband, Ron, of Jackson, Tennessee, nephew, Morris Carson and wife, Mary, of Tulsa, Ok, nephew, Spencer Carson and wife, Cindy, of Westville, Ok, niece, Linda Hamblin and husband, Bill, of Westville, Ok, niece, Patty Lively and husband, John, of Siloam Springs, Ar, niece, Margaret Carmichael, of Westville, Ok, niece, Sharon Winn and husband, Bruce, of Muldrow, Ok, niece, Becky Cathey and husband, Mike, of Tahlequah, Ok, nephew, Darrel Self and wife, Sue Ella, of Stilwell, Ok and nephew, Brad Self and wife, Teresa, of Westville, Ok and several great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, OK with Bro. Darrel Self officiating. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery.
