Johnnie Hummingbird, the son of Stan and Nancy (Hogner) Hummingbird, was born March 28, 1936, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He passed from this life November 11, 2010, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 13 days.
Johnnie was married to Susie Cochran on March 14, 1958 and this union was blessed with six children. Johnnie worked as a poultry processer for Simmons Industry for several years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. His hobbies included gardening, watching sports, spending time with his grandchildren and playing pool at the Senior Citizens Center.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, grandson, Mitchell Thompson Jr, sisters, Mary England, Lizzie England, Lila Deason and Betty Lou Hummingbird, brothers, Clarence Hogner and Dean Deere.
His surviving family includes his wife of 52 years, Susie Hummingbird, of the home in Stilwell; children, Johnny Jr. and Becky Hummingbird, Joseph Hummingbird, Sean Hummingbird, Cherry and Mitchell Thompson, Susan and Roger Minor and Mary Elizabeth Hummingbird, all of Stilwell; brothers, Jake and Lucille Hummingbird, of Stilwell, Stan Jr. and LaRhonda Hummingbird, of Tahlequah; sister, Nannie Sue Eagle, of Stilwell, 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and a host of friends and loved ones.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Wilson Leon Hitcher officiating. Interment will follow at Blackwood Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
