Westville, OK – Funeral services for Evelyn Morris, age 86, were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Westville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Brother Jerry Morris of Tulsa, Brother Rick Gregory of Pryor, Winifred Dudley of Tulsa and Jamey Mullin of Edmond presided over services. Evelyn was laid to rest the following day at Alberty Cemetery. Services were entrusted to the care of the Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
Frances Evelyn Morris was born in Washburn, Missouri on November 23, 1923, the daughter of Francis Earl Whelchel and Mabel (Case) Whelchel. She graduated from Westville High School and Draughn Business College. She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Studies from Northeastern State University. In 1942 she married Kenneth Morris in Pineville, Missouri, and their marriage was blessed with four daughters. For many years she worked with Kenneth in their grocery store in Westville and assisted him in producing rodeos in the four-state area. She retired from the Department of Human Services after twenty years of service as a social worker. She was a member of the Westville Community Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was actively involved in the founding of the Westville Library. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Evelyn Morris passed from this life on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 20 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Billie June Sale.
Evelyn is survived by her four daughters, Judy Tucker of Claremore, OK, Gayle Mullin and husband Jim of Westville, Joy Walker and husband Frank of Muskogee, OK and Jan Hopper and husband Robert of Grove, OK; her fourteen grandchildren, Jamie Tucker, Kent Tucker, Yvonne Morgan, Greg Mullin, Gerald Mullin, Jamey Mullin, Leslie McLaughlin, Marjorie Throckmorton, Markwayne Mullin, Lance Walker, Scarlett Cloud, Ginger Glover, Scott Glover and Matthew Glover; thirty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister Winifred Dudley and husband Jay Floyd Dudley of Tulsa, OK; as well as many other family members, friends and loved ones.
