Graveside: 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 4th, 2015 - Elmwood Cemetery
Emma Lucile Branch, 103 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Elmwood Cemetery with the Reverend Tony Barros officiating. Burial will follow.
Emma Lucile McHaney was born to William Robert and Leana Fay (Jett) McHaney on June 26, 1912. She was saved at the early age of nine and joined the First Baptist Church of Salem, Illinois.
In 1934, she married Ray Paul Lee and to this union one daughter Linda Kay was born. Ray passed away in 1946.
Shortly there after, she became church secretary at the Salem Baptist Church where she did financial records and all the printing of materials. Emma taught four year old Sunday School class, was a Leader of Youth, involved in the GA’s, and she sang in the choir and played the piano for worship service. She also served as the church clerk and served on the counting committee.
In 1965, she was united in marriage to Hulen Branch in Salem, Illinois and she gained three new daughters and a son. Hulen passed away in 1994. In 1995, she moved from Salem, Illinois to Woodward, Oklahoma to live with her daughter and family. She immediately transferred her church membership to the First Baptist Church of Woodward where she attended faithfully until health prevented her from going.
Her special hobbies were, quilting, fishing, cooking, and working crossword books. Her special Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lola Freida Storment and Frances Morris, five brothers, William Robert McHaney II “Bob’, Alfred McHaney, Charles McHaney, James McHaney and Leigh McHaney; stepchildren: LaVerle Chitwood, Rosann Greathouse and Paul Branch.
She leaves to remember her: daughter, Linda Kay Anderson and husband Darrel; step-daughter, Vickie Branch Burge and husband Richard; grandchildren, Jeff and Amy Anderson, Steve and Rachel Anderson, Leeann Anderson Griffin; step-grandchildren, TJ and Jennifer Burge, Ryan and Jacque Burge; great-grandchildren, Weston, Alyssa, Loren, and Trace Anderson, Faith and Justice Anderson; Haley and Katy Griffin; Lauren Burge; Holden and Reid Burge; other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church New Bus Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
