Vernon "Bill" Kilhoffer was born December 4, 1931 in Canute, Oklahoma to Louise Catherine and Leo Peter Kilhoffer. He passed away July 20, 2016 at his home near Canute, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 16 days.

Bill graduated from Holy Family School at Canute. After graduating he helped his father on the farm until entering the U.S. Army. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and he traveled across the country. He especially enjoyed spending time in Alaska panning for gold. After his father passed away in 1975, he returned to Canute to make his home and care for his mother. He stayed busy doing carpentry work and landscaping for many years until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Leo John and Michael Bernard Kilhoffer.

He is survived by his sister, Janice Louise Jones and husband, Beryl, Edmond, OK; an aunt, Mercedes Haubach, Pittsburgh, PA; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
