Mary Elizabeth (Younger) Brown

Mary Elizabeth Younger Brown, pioneer resident of the Durham community, died November 10, 1954 at Shattuck following a brief illness.

She was born April 17, 1883, at Forestburg, Texas.

On December 24, 1902 she married Clarence A. Brown at Cordell, Oklahoma.

She was a long time member of the Catholic Church at Cheyenne.

They moved to the Durham community in 1904 and homesteaded north of Crawford where they lived until five years ago when they moved south of Durham.

Survivors are her husband, Clarence A. Brown, Durham; one daughter, Mrs. Winnie Sibley, Fritch, Texas; four sons, Hugh A. of Borger, Texas; Michael B. of Grand Junction, Colorado; Jim A. of Durham; C. A. Jr., of Goldsmith, Texas; two brothers, W. L. Younger, Oklahoma City; Bob Younger, Snyder, Texas; and six sisters, Mrs. Lela Griffing, Gainesville, Texas; Mrs. Julia Brown of Norwalk, California; Mrs. Callie Boren, Wellington, California; Mrs. Rose Smith of Pineville, Louisiana; Mrs. Della White of Houston, Texas; and Mrs. Margaret Bosley of Odessa, Texas.

Thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Services were held Monday, November 15, 1954 at the Cheyenne Catholic Church with Rev. Gerome Talloem officiating.

Burial was in the Canute Cemetery with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
