Daniel "Dan" Paul Daake
October 5, 1981 - April 7, 2023

Daniel Paul Daake, Bartlesville resident, National Guardsman, and child of God, was 41 when he died Friday in his hometown.

Daniel was born on October 5, 1981, to Richard "Dick" Lynn and Kathleen "Kathy" Gayle (Barnett) Daake. Daniel was born and raised in Bartlesville and grew up attending First Wesleyan Church. His dad Dick was a chemistry and physics professor at Bartlesville Wesleyan University (later renamed Oklahoma Wesleyan University) and his mother Kathy was an elementary school teacher at Wesleyan Christian School. Growing up, Daniel and his three siblings spent time with their dad practicing science in his lab on the weekends and exploring the countryside for rocks and fossils. Daniel was employed by Phillips 66 & AT&T during his working career and was a computer based free lancer.

Daniel was known for his friendliness, his wit, his smile, his warm hugs and his playfulness. Giving gifts was his love language, and he enjoyed showering his nieces and nephews with them.

Daniel deeply loved his Country and he had a heart for his fellow veterans. He served in the military for eight years. Daniel proudly wore his dog tags and always thanked every veteran for their service. Daniel understood how many of them suffered from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) because of his own struggle with the disorder. He was quick to recognize a lonely person and offer him a kind word or buy him a meal. He cried with hurting people as he shared their pain and prayed with them.

In recent months Daniel developed a hunger after God and a thirst for His Word. He carried Bible verses on cards in his pocket to share with others because he wanted them to know Jesus. God had become very real to him.

Daniel is survived by his loving mother Kathy, one brother Philip Daake, two sisters, Rachel Daake, and Rebecca and T.J. Thomas, two nieces, two nephews, and a host of family and friends. Daniel was preceded in death by his father Richard.
