MARTHA LUCILE HENDERSHOT
1937 - 1997


Shawnee homemaker Martha Lucile Johnson Hendershot died Wednesday at the age of 60.
Mrs. Hendershot was born September 29, 1937, in Macomb, to Donald and Ollie Stice Johnson.
She was reared on a farm west of Macomb and attended Macomb Schools until 1947. Her family moved to a farm north of Shawnee and she then attended school in Shawnee, where she graduated from high school in 1955.
She lived most of her life in Pottawatomie County and had resided in Tulsa, Golden, Colorado and Grantsburg, Wisconsin before returning to Shawnee in 1961.
On December 24, 1955, she married Paul H. Hendershot in Tecumseh.
She was also a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Hendershot of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Douglas G. Hendershot of Shawnee; Warren and Sheila Hendershot of Tecumseh; Chester and Linda Hendershot of Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Randy Lauderdale of Shawnee; her mother, Ollie Johnson of Shawnee; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Rufus Johnson of Midwest City; James and Ruth Johnson, Donald and Saundra Johnson, all of Shawnee; Russell and Jan Johnson of Lancaster, Texas; Joe and Sue Johnson of Macomb; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie Merle and Terry Burge of Meeker; Stella and David Little of Shawnee; Kenneth Good of Shawnee; seven grandchildren, Cambria and Carson Lauderdale, Kyle, Nicolas, Junior, Jordan and Courtney Hendershot; and several other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Ollie Mae Good and an infant sister.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. Richard Hamilton and the Rev. Mike Craig officiating.
Burial will be at Mars Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church Building Fund.
