Mary Bess (Scott) Gibson

Services for Mary Bess Gibson, 93, of Stonewall, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Richard Dickerson will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery at Stonewall. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gibson died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at an Ada hospital. She was born March 2, 1921 in Weston, Missouri to Clarence and Lora Lee Graves Scott. She attended school in Weston, Missouri and nurses training at Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, KS and attended post graduate training for surgical nursing at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She moved to Ada in 1948. Mrs. Gibson was a Surgical Registered Nurse at Valley View Regional Hospital from 1948 until retiring in 1988 after 40 years of service.

She married Norman Patterson “Pete” Gibson on September 13, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1992.

Survivors include a son, Scotty Gibson and wife Myria of Ardmore; and her grandchildren, Sara D. Gibson of Edmond and Hilary Smith and husband Jerrod of Edmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Richard W. Scott and James M. Scott; and three sisters, Nannie Bell Ross, Gertrude Randolph and Lora Grace Roudebush.

Bearers will be Jerry Stacy, Dan Hilgert, Richard Truitt, Grant Ellis, Bill Cannon and Joe Cannon.
