A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Richmond Ave. Freewill Baptist Church in Allen, Rev. Buddy Drake will officiate. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery.

Margaret went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the age of 84. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Margaret was born in Stratford, Oklahoma on June 6, 1933 to Amos E. and Juanita Lane Malone. She graduated from Allen High School and married on August 30, 1951 and moved a few years later to Corpus Christi, Texas, where she raised her family. Upon her husband’s retirement, she moved to Chandler on Lake Palestine where she enjoyed many years of hosting family and friends with her fresh catch of fish, creative centerpieces and wonderful homemade desserts. She was an active member of Westlake Baptist Church of Chandler until their move to Tyler where she joined First Baptist Church and was a part of the Magnifiers Sunday School Class.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Dennis Laird; brother-in-law, Derrel Wise; sister-in-law, Corene Evett and husband W. B.; sister-in-law, Polly Riess; nephews, Mike Evett and Darren Wise; and mother and father-in-law, Bill and Syble Jestes.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Davis Ray “Bud” Sims; daughter, Debra Laird; son, Steve Sims and wife Deanna; grandchildren, Lisa Berenguel and husband Jose, Douglas Laird and wife Danielle, Whitney Dorsey and husband Brian, and Mallory Sims; sisters, June Cozad and husband R. D. “Buck”, Sue Wise, Patricia Tate and husband Pat; and brother, John Malone and wife Jeanne; brother-in-law, Bill Riess; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Foundation for Prader Willi Research in honor of her great-granddaughter Jocelyn Berenguel at fpwr.org or the charity of your choice.
