Services for Mariel Cross, 89, of Gerty, are 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Gerty, Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Cross passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at her home. She was born January 10, 1933 in Stuart, OK to Claude and Edith Dillard Elliott.

She married Glen Cross. He preceded her in death December 24, 2006. Mrs. Cross was a nurse’s aide in Tulsa, Fresno, CA and Dallas, TX. She and her husband owned Bridge and Cross Fence Company in Dallas and later they owned the Calvin Video Store in Calvin.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Cross, Gerty; daughter, Reba Peoples, Lake Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, Chance Peoples, Shelley Jimenez and Sonia Jimenez, and Larry Peoples and Britani Peoples; four great-grandchildren, Coe, Cambrie, Laila and Cason; and two great-great-grandchildren, Creed and Cash; and her brothers, Ken Elliott, Stanley Elliott and Darrel Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry Dean Cross; sister, Inez Elliott; a brother, Hershel Elliott; and a son-in-law, Ron Peoples.

Bearers will be Kevin Elliott, Joey Cross, Alan Cross, Steve Smith, Mike Cross and Chris York. Honorary bearer will be Leonard Cross.
