Clovis Edgar Fannin, 89, of McAlester, formerly of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, March 15, in McAlester. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pryor Cemetery near Stuart, with Woodrow Hall officiating. Pallbearers will be Dillon Beck, Kevin Luker, Tyler Clifft, Mike Weeks, Chad Hartsfield, and Dustin Hull. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Heartland Hospice. Clovis Fannin was born on May 8, 1932 in Cabiness to E. L. and Tisha (Howell) Fannin. He grew up there and has lived all his life in the Cabiness-Stuart area. He married Rheta Hull on July 12, 1956. She preceded him in death in 2020. Clovis worked at the Army Ammunition Plant, retiring after over 30 years as a blocker and bracer foreman. He also managed his own herd of cattle over the years. When he wasn't occupied with those jobs, he could probably be found at his favorite fishing hole. Clovis is survived by his son, Ray Fannin; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Sykes; a sister-in-law, Wanda Beck and her husband Troy; and a special friend, Angela McClendon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rheta; a son, Roger; his parents; 7 sisters; and 1 brother.
