Stephaine Denise Giddings was born on June 1, 1968, to Josephine Giddings and Chester Giddings, Sr in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and esteemed educator. On October 16, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer she was called to her heavenly home. Stephaine's life was marked by her radiant smile, immeasurable generosity, and unselfish dedication to others. Her warm spirit garnished the lives of her family, her students, and anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. It is said that the search for knowledge is a noble one, and this rang true in every chapter of Stephaine’s life. She was a proud alumna of McAlester Public Schools, where she also served as drum major. She pursued her passion for learning and teaching by earning her Bachelor's degree in Education from East Central University. She dedicated her career to her alma mater, serving as a lifelong educator in the McAlester School System, where she touched the lives of countless students from the 1st grade through high school. Her commitment to fostering a love for learning, was recognized when she was named Teacher of the Year Nominee and Martin Luther King Service Award, a testament to her tireless dedication and impactful teaching style. She was also a member of the Oklahoma Education Association (OEA), where she tirelessly advocated for her fellow educators and the betterment of the educational system. Her dedication to her work was evident in all her endeavors, and her generous spirit extended to everyone she met. Stephaine's life was not only defined by her professional accomplishments but also by her personal interests. She had a profound love for nature and the simple joys it offered. Whether it was a rodeo event or merely tending to her garden, Stephaine enjoyed the beauty and thrill of the outdoors. Her love for music was expressed through her graceful dancing and her talent for playing the piano, which she often did at her local church for many years. Above all, she cherished spending quality time with her family and friends, creating memories that will continue to live on forever. Stephaine was a loving mother to her two daughters, Cassideigh Giddings and Shelbie Walker, who were the center of her world. She was a beacon of strength and love to her mother, Josephine Giddings, her sister, Kimberly Giddings, her brother, Lawson Giddings Jr., and her granddaughter Aaliyah Price. Her loss will also be deeply felt by her aunts, uncles, many cousins, relatives, and friends who were touched by her selfless nature and generous heart. Stephaine Giddings' life was a testament to the power of love, generosity, and selflessness. She exemplified strength and resilience in the face of adversity and her passion for life was contagious. Her impact on the McAlester community and the lives of her students will not be forgotten. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led, the love she shared, and the countless lives she touched. Stephaine's light may have dimmed in this world, but her influence and legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts and minds of those she left. As we remember Steph, let us remember the woman who believed in the power of education, adored life’s simple pleasures, cherished those around her, and treasured every moment gifted to her. We trust that she rests peacefully with the Lord, carrying our love and respect to the heavens. Though she has departed, her radiant spirit continues to thrive among us, living perpetually in her deeds, her teachings, and, most profoundly, in the love she left behind. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered forever.
