Peggy Lou (Haynes) Weeden, 75 of Haileyville died October 26, 2021 in Tulsa. The family will greet friends and relatives Noon to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Mr. Rusty Johnson. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Hartshorne. Pallbearers will be Rusty Johnson, Jake Anderson, Michael McGuire, Jason Anderson, George Lay and Joe Pink. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Connelly, Jimmy Striven, Justin Striven and Matthew Fite. Peggy was born to Charles Leonard and Melvina Braggs Leonard on September 9, 1946 in Gadsden, Alabama. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1964. Peggy worked several jobs over her working life; including, operating an auto dealership, owning and operating a hotel and worked at Payless Shoe Source in McAlester. She served on the Haileyville City Council as a council member for several years. She married Jerry Thomas Weeden. Peggy was a member of the Robert B. Thomas, Post #1098 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, puzzles, latch hook, fishing, dancing and going to garage sales. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Melvina Leonard; husband, Jerry Weeden; infant daughter, Charlotte Denise; sister, Dianne Williamson; nieces, Mary and Faye. She is survived by her daughters, Michele Fite of Warner, Nicole (Fite) Young of McAlester; son, Robert E. Fite, Sr. and wife, Janice of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren, Jimmy, Justin, Matthew, Megan, Cassidy; numerous great grandchildren; other family members and friends.
