John William Ranallo, 86, of Hartshorne, passed away Wednesday, December 22nd, at his home with his family at his side. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 23rd, at 8:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 24th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Pallbearers are John David Spears, Jarrod Adams, Blane Adams, Seth Adams, William Craig Kirkes and Caitlin Ranallo. Honorary pallbearers are Tisha Spears, Dava Spears, Emily Amador, Holli Kitchell and Samantha Stark. John Ranallo was born on August 17, 1935 in Hartshorne to Lige Ranallo and Annie (Sitter) Ranallo. He grew up in the Hartshorne and graduated from Hartshorne High School, and has lived there all his life. He married Helen Jones on August 3, 1957 and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2003. John retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company with 35 years of service as an Installer Repairman. John worked as a firefighter for the Hartshorne Fire Department, eventually serving as Fire Chief and retiring after 20 years. He also ranched all his life. John liked to stay busy, working with his cattle, the fire department, or helping at the American Legion. He was a life-member of the Hartshorne American Legion and was a past Commander. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Oklahoma Firefighters Association. John had served his country by serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958, receiving his honorable discharge in June of 1958, then served with the Air Force Reserves for another 4 years. John is survived by his children, Kelli Spears and husband David, Kristi Kirkes and husband Forrest, and John Ranallo, Jr. and wife Alisha; a son-in-law, Kenny Adams; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Frankie Ray and Sandi Ranallo; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Gloria Mattioda, and Pat and Dave Youngblood; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Ranallo. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Sandra Dee Adams; a great granddaughter, Kelli Sue Fry; his parents; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
