Ada Pearl Darby
April 14, 1937-January 22, 2018

Ada Pearl (Denton) Darby, age 80, of Gowen, died Monday, January 22, 2018 at her home. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in Hartshorne with Rev. Clint Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne. Ada was born on April 14, 1937, in Gowen, Oklahoma to John and Rosa (Stone) Denton. Upon her graduation in 1955 from Wilburton High School, she married Clyde Darby, also from Gowen. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a mother and homemaker and worked many years for Charles Komar and Son. Later, she began doing what she loved most and became the cook for the Kibois Head Start in Hartshorne where they called her Ms. Ada. She enjoyed working with the teachers and loved all the school children. Upon her retirement, she loved to cook for her children, grandchildren and anyone who loved to eat. She enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in sporting events and spending time with her family. Her house was always open to anyone needing a good meal or just a place to rest. She is survived by her four children, daughter, Marlene Adams and husband Johnny of Gowen, son, Clyde David "Buddy" Darby of Tulsa, daughter, Denise McCullar and husband Keith of McAlester, son, Steve Darby and wife Tina of LaGrange, Texas; nine grandchildren, Denton "Denny" Adams and wife Cindy, Dustin Darby and wife Sheila, Crystal Hoskins, Brody Adams, Jennifer York, Mallori Rodgers and husband Preston, Jacob Darby, Sabastian Darby, Matthew Darby and Daniel Darby; three step-daughters, Betty Roberts, Phyllis Schmalijohn and Kay Sorenson; sixteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Roberta Turner of Gowen and several nieces and nephews. Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Darby; her parents; brothers, John Denton and Charles Maples; her sisters, Pearl and Rosa Darby and brother-in-law, Robert Darby. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Denton "Denny" Adams, Dustin Darby, Brody Adams, Jacob Darby, Sebastian Darby, Matthew Darby and Daniel Darby. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Wyatt Darby and Jordan Gilreath.
