Jimmy Ray Butler, 78, of Hartshorne, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, at his home in Hartshorne. Viewing will be Saturday til 12:00 p.m., Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00, and Monday til 5:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Double Springs Cemetery near Arpelar. Pallbearers are Joshua Parson, William Coble, Robert Herring, and Big John. The honorary pallbearer is George Swoboni.
Jimmy Butler was born on Dec. 18, 1943 in Dekalb, Tx. to Floyd Harrison Butler and Roxy (Inez) Butler. His early years were spent in Texas, until coming to Oklahoma, where he has lived in Hartshorne the past 30 plus years. Jimmy worked as a service station manager for several years and also worked at Consignment Exchange Furniture; and for many of his years he worked as maintenance supervisor for apartment complexes. Jimmy liked to hunt and fish, and was an exceptional bowler, winning and placing in numerous tournaments around the state. He also had exceptional skills at crocheting. Jimmy had also served in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam conflict.
Jimmy is survived by 2 daughters, Nakoa Parson and husband Joshua, and Danielle Coble and husband William; 11 grandchildren, Celena Wells-Burris, James Burris, Daniel Burris, Wendy Fleming, Adam Fleming, Eli Bennett, Hunter Parson, Logan Butler, Corbin Butler, Triniti Coble and Rose Coble; a brother, Morgan Butler; and a sister, Katherine Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Harrison Butler; and a brother, Dennis Wayne Butler.
