March 2002 Lorene A. [Huls] Cooper August 17, 1916 ~ March 17, 2002 Lorene A. [Huls] Cooper, 85, passed away quietly surrounded by loved ones, March 17, 2002. She was born August 17, 1916 in Hanna, Oklahoma. She lived in Perkins, Oklahoma where she met her husband. They were married in 1935 and lived in Oklahoma City. She moved to Edmond in 1980. She was a homemaker and dearly cherished her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Leslie Huls of Perkins, Oklahoma and husband Merlin B. Cooper, Oklahoma City. She is survived by daughters Sharon Mayfield and Gwen Wegner and her husband Kenneth Wegner of Edmond. Brothers, Bert Huls of Dallas, Texas, Kenneth Huls and his wife, Gerry of Eufaula, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Michelle Lashley of Edmond, Angie Mayfield of Arvada, Colorado, Amy Mayfield of Hayward, California, Kelley Wegner and Kenneth C. Wegner of Edmond, great granddaughter Elizabeth Lashley and her father Gary Lashley of Edmond. She was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church and had been a member of LaPetite, Eastern Star and FOP. She was very active in the church and taught three year olds in Sunday School for many years. She always had a smile and was loved by many friends and family. Graveside Services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20th at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Still water, OK. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in the memory of Lorene Cooper to the Oklahoma Christian Home, 906 N. Blvd. Edmond, Oklahoma 73034. Services under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
