Martha Jane [Keller] Pate
January 15, 1923 ~ July 26, 2009


Martha Jane Pate, age 86 a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Drumright Nursing Home.

Martha was born on January 15, 1923 in Parsons, Kansas to the late Joseph and Fern Lucy (Primm) Keller. She grew up and attended school in Parsons, Ks. Martha married Harry Samuel Pate on January 17, 1941 in Pratt, Kansas, to this union six children were born.

They lived in Kansas and later moved to Oklahoma, living on the family homestead. Martha loved taking care of her children. She also took care of many other children. Martha ironed clothes for many in the community. She liked to crochet, cook and take care of her flowers.

Martha loved to read the newspapers everyday and would cut out many articles and give to others. She was a very good woman with a big heart. After her children were raised, she liked to go fishing with her husband.

Martha is survived by her sons Larry Pate of Cushing, Samuel Pate and wife Chris of Boise, Idaho, daughters Carol Childers of Cushing, Brenda Nicholas and husband Vernon of Drumright, Diana Hopkins and husband Danny of Cushing, twenty grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren, and also survived by the Butler Family.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry Pate, daughter Veronica Pate, two sisters Barbara Osburn and Josephine Sutton, brother Joseph Pate Jr. and one granddaughter.

Prayer services will be held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Pate Cemetery, Cushing. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Larry Joe Pate
November 19, 1949 ~ August 13, 2009


Larry Joe Pate, age 63, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away at his home in Cushing on August 13, 2009.

Larry was born on November 19, 1945 in Cushing to the late Harry Samuel and Martha Jane (Keller) Pate. He grew up in Cushing. Larry attended Olive Schools, graduating from Olive High School in 1963. Larry drove a truck most of his life. He retired from Melton Trucking in Tulsa . Larry loved attending rodeo's, especially enjoyed watching the horses. He was a member of the Sac and Fox Tribe. Larry liked to go fishing. He loved spending time with his two favorite pets "Lonesome and Tippy".

Larry is survived by his sons James Pate of Arizona and Larry Joe Pate II of San Antonio, Daughters Laura Jo Hendricks of Tahlequah and Kim Barnes of Peggs, brothers Samuel Pate and wife Chris of Boise, Idaho, sisters Carol Childers of Cushing, Brenda Nicholas and husband Vernon of Drumright, Diana Hopkins and husband Danny of Cushing, grandchildren Ty Miller, Caylea Jo Coles, Tedi Barnes, Albert Barnes, Dalton, Kelie and Gabrielle Pate, Hannah, Haydan and Colton Pate, and also survived by the Butler Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will be held Monday, at Pate Family Cemetery , Cushing.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Veronica Lea Pate
April 14, 1952 ~ October 18, 2002


Veronica Lea Pate, 50, of Drumright died Friday, October 18, 2002 at her home west of Drumright. Born April 14, 1952 in Cushing to Harry Samuel and Martha [Keller] Pate.

She was a graduate of the Drumright High School. She had lived in the Drumright Cushing area all of her life.

Survivors include: two daughters, Racheal Lea Head of Cushing and Martha Nadine Meyers of Drumright; two brothers, Larry Joe Pate of Drumright and Sam and Christine Pate and family of Cushing; three sisters, Brenda and Vernon Nicholas and family of Drumright, Diana and Danny Hopkins and family of Drumright and Carol and Jerry Childress and family of Cushing; her mother Martha Lane Pate; and Aunt Cecilian Littlehead and family of Cushing.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Pate and by one niece, Dana Jane Hopkins.

Sac and Fox Tribal rites will be Sunday at the Sac and Fox Community Building in Stroud. Graveside services will be Monday at the Pate Family Cemetery West of Drumright. Services will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing.
