Armand Louise Privett Pitts, longtime Cushing resident and retired Cushing High School registrar and business education teacher, died on Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

The oldest of five children, she was born on October 30, 1918 in Maramec, OK to Muriel and Arnold Privett.

Armand graduated from Maramec High School and Oklahoma State University, then began her teaching career in Orlando, later teaching in Pawnee, Drumright and Cushing. She also worked at the Pawnee National Bank and Tidewater Oil Company.

She and her husband, Frank, were the parents of one daughter who survives them, Susan Pitts Santoli of Theodore, Alabama.

She is also survived by her son-in-law, Sandy Santoli of Theodore, AL; her grandson, Justin du Mont, his wife Shanna, and their daughters, Corinne and Natalie, of Mobile, AL; one brother, Rex Privett of Norman, his wife Pat, and their family; one sister, Claudia Franklin of Oklahoma City and her family; her sister-in-law, Urna Privett of Pawnee and her family; the family of her deceased brother, Joe Privett; plus numerous cousins, her devoted care-givers, and many, many friends.

Armand was predeceased by her husband, mother, father and two brothers.

She was a member of the Cushing United Methodist Church, the Wesley Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, Emmaus, Ex-Teachers, and P.E.O.

She loved music, Bible study, teaching and especially being with family and friends. Her life was lived in service to God and others.

She influenced generations of students through her teaching career and impressed all that knew her with her graciousness and kindness.

A celebration of Armand’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ted Uhlig officiating.

Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Pawnee.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mike Babb, the nurses and staff of the Cushing Regional Hospital, Linwood Village Nursing Home, Judith Karman Hospice and her caregivers for their attentive and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Cushing United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 888 Cushing OK 74023, the Pawnee United Methodist Church P.O. Box 248 Pawnee, OK 74058 or to Judith Karman Hospice, P.O. Box 818 Stillwater OK 74076.

The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the funeral home.
