Howard Owens, age 91 of Cushing, died on Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Cushing Regional Hospital in Cushing.
Howard was born on February 10, 1915 in the Yale community to Walter and Dora Jane Stockstill Owens.
He was a graduate of the Norfolk High School.
He married Belle Losey on November 15, 1936. She preceded him in death on February 20, 1986. Howard married Dorothy Rhodes of Cushing on February 18, 1989.
Howard worked in the Cushing area in the oil support service. He was transferred to Konawa, Oklahoma in 1964 and then to Magnolia, Arkansas in 1968. He retired from Ethel Corporation in 1985 and moved back to Cushing.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cushing and the Cimarron Sam’s RV Good Sam Club.
Howard is survived by his wife of 17 years, Dorothy Owens of the home; three children, a son James Howard Owens and wife Mary Lou of Mustang, Oklahoma, a daughter Carol Sue Allred and husband Dr. Robert Allred M.D. of Harker Heights, Texas and a son Dr. Thomas Richard Owens and wife Linda of Drumright, Oklahoma; a step-son, Steve Rhodes and wife Debbie of Burkburnett, Texas; seven grandchildren, Becky Dobson and husband Bob of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Paul Allred and wife Caryn of Dallas, Texas, Teresa Isakson and husband Kyle of Grapevine, Texas, Nancy Curtis and husband Carlton of Norman, Oklahoma, Scott Allred and wife Christie of Richardson, Texas, Daniel Owens and wife Becky of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gayle Yost and husband Chad of Carrollton, Texas; step-grandson David Rhodes and wife Stacie of Paris, Tennessee; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Irvin, Calvin, John and Albert; two sisters, Eva Venable and Virgie Cullifer and one grandson, David Owens.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church, Cushing with Dr. Lonny Lee officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale.
