Barbara June Moore, longtime Nursing Home Administrator, passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 77 years.

The daughter of the late Howard and Mary Phifer, Barbara was born on Dec. 21, 1932 in Harrison, AR, and was raised and educated in that area.

She later received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from U.C.O., and her Master of Science Degree in Nursing Home Administration from O.U. She had served in Nursing Home Administration for over 26 years prior to her retirement in 2008, having worked in several cities across the state.

She was united in marriage to William Moore on March 15, 1956 in Wayne, OK and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2002. The couple raised four boys, Joe, Mike, Richard and Keith.

The couple enjoyed roller skate dancing and as a team they had won several skate dancing contests.

Barbara enjoyed playing the piano and for several years was an adjunct professor of music at Rose State College.

She was an avid reader, she loved fishing, playing dominoes and caring for her beloved dog, Taco.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cushing; she loved doing church work and had volunteered at several different churches and nursing homes in the Oklahoma City area in church ministry.

Survivors include her children, Joe Moore and his wife Linda of Oklahoma City, Mike Moore and his wife Jama of Tulsa, Richard Moore and his wife Kathy of Noble and Keith Moore and his wife Debbie of Cushing; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 at 1 P.M. in the First Baptist Church in Cushing with Dr. Jeff Moore, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Altus, officiating.

Burial will be held on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City.
