Dr. William L. Fielding, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital.

He was born on August 26, 1924 at Quay, OK to William L. Fielding, Sr. and Ethel Pollock Fielding.

Dr. Fielding was married on November 1, 1953 to Bonnie Eleanor Tanner in Kansas City, Kansas.

His elementary and secondary education was in Quay, OK, graduating with the class of 1942.

He enlisted June 16, 1943 in the 1535th Army Air Force Base Unit, and served in the Central Pacific Wing, Pacific Division, Air Transport Command. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon; APT Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Ribbon, and was honorably discharged on February 26, 1946 at Leavenworth, Kansas, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. His military occupational specialty was Aerial Engineer.

Following the war, he attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, as an honor student, prior to his acceptance to the UMKC Dental School Kansas City, Missouri, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1953. Then he moved to Cushing, Oklahoma, where he was a dentist for 46 years prior to retirement.

Dr. Fielding was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge #111 of Cushing, and a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite in Guthrie; International Supreme Council Order of Demolay, Cross of Honor; American and Oklahoma Dental Associations. He was also honored as Elder Emeritus and former President and Board Chairman of the First Christian Church in Cushing and had served on the Cushing Masonic Hospital Board for 25 years.

Loving family members include his wife Bonnie Eleanor of the home; three sons, Dr. Jeffrey Fielding and wife Sheree’ of Cushing and four daughters: Amanda Turner and husband Matt of Coweta, Jessica, Chloe’ and Claire Fielding all of Tahlequah; Dr. Gregory Fielding and wife Elizabeth of Cleveland and children: William Ross, Mary Katherine and Sarah Elizabeth Fielding; Dr. Bradley Fielding of Edmond and four sons: Austin, Tanner, Drew and Hunter Fielding; five sisters, Evelyn Weldon and husband Leon of Cushing, Beatrice Stromme of Sulpher, Berniece Walling and husband Ralph of Yale, Charlene Zumwalt and husband Bob of Mannford and Beverly Strader and husband Bob of Cushing; two brothers, Walter LeRoy Fielding and wife Gwen of Tulsa and Finis “Buck” Fielding and wife Martha of Cleveland; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Dr. Fielding was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marion Sue Burt and three brothers, James “Sam” Fielding, Tom Fielding and Lesley Allen Fielding.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 4 P.M. in the First Christian Church with Reverend Larry Haney, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
