Rhoda Mae Somers, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008 in the Cushing Regional Hospital, at the age of 90 years.

The daughter of the late Charles Alonzo Belveal and Henryetta Rabb Belveal, Rhoda was born on April 6, 1917 in Cushing, OK where she was reared and educated, living here all her life.

She was united in marriage to Odren Dwinell in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1941. She was united in marriage to John Somers on January 11, 1945 in Cushing. The couple had been married for over 37 years prior to his death in November of 1982.

Rhoda was a member of the Tri-County Church of Christ; she enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, growing flowers and cooking for her family and friends, especially her homemade noodles.

Survivors include her children, David Dwinell and his wife Barbara of Duluth, MN, Danny Dwinell of Cushing, John Somers and his wife Sandra of Glencoe, Gary Somers and his wife Ernestine of Tryon and Etta Mae Welch and her husband Benny of Cushing; one sister, Charlotte Grueser and her husband Roy of Oklahoma City; twenty grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relative and friends.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one infant son; one grandson, Carl Dwinell and ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Kyle Wright, pastor of the Tri-County Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
