Lee Bass
August 1, 1925 ~ April 9, 2009


Lee Bass Jr. a longtime Cushing resident passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the O.S.U. Select Specialty Hospital, Tulsa at the age of 83.

Tribal Sac and Fox burial rights will be held at the Yvonne Goodeagle Homeplace on Sunday.

Graveside services will be held Monday at the Hunter Cemetery , Cushing. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Lee was born on August 1, 1925 in Cushing , Oklahoma to the late Lee and Helen [Robedeaux] Bass. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1944. Lee was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944, where he served in WWII. He was discharged in 1946. After returning home from service, he attended O.S.U., receiving his degree in 1950. He worked as a maintenance electrician for Borg Warner in Tulsa for 36 years, retiring in the 90's. Lee was a Tribal member of Sac and Fox. He was also a member of the First Indian Baptist Church . Lee was active in the language group at Sac and Fox. He liked to attend rodeos. Lee loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending their numerous activities.

Lee is survived by his children Gerald Bass and wife Nikki of Arkansas City, KS, Sam Bass of Preston , OK. , Eric Bass of CA., Dewey Bass of Tama, IA., Monty Bass of CA., Joey Bass and wife Delana of IL., Jane Bass of Cushing, Susan Bass of Cushing, Judy Fields of Cushing, Gena Wesley and husband Richard of Preston, Ok., Debbie Primeaux and husband Duncan of Shawnee, Nellie Yarholar and husband Clarence of Shawnee, grandchildren Jordan, Jared, Jesica and Julianne Bass, Andi Bass, Chuck, Clay, Adri and Carlos Fields, Ashley Pineda and husband David, Kerri, Sarah, Justin, Hunter, Cheyenne, Braden Bass, Monica, Chebon and Miaha Bass, JoJo, Jacob, Holly, Eileen, Wesley and Tommy Bass, Anissa, Regina, Paula, Johnnie and Rainy Wesley, Courtney Yarholar and Graham Primeaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lillian Bass, sisters Fredilia Smith and Cora Griggs.

Gerald Kelly Bass
August 4, 1967 ~ December 27, 2020


Gerald Kelly Bass, born August 4, 1967 to Lillian Pratt and Lee Bass Jr in Stroud, Oklahoma, passed away December 27, 2020.

Gerald grew up and went to school in Cushing, OK. He had 5 sisters, Debbie, Patricia, Jane, Judy, and Sue, and 5 brothers, Sammy, Joey, Monty, Dewey, Eric, and Rick. He married Peggy Blue and had 3 children, Kerri, Sarah and Justin.

Gerald later married Nicole [Keyworth] Bass in 1997 and had 4 children, Hunter, Cheyenne, Braden and Wyatt. They moved to Arkansas City, where he worked as a carpenter and often took his youngest boys fishing at a local pond. He spent his fall evenings in a hunting blind or in a tree stand. He never missed an OU game, either watching with a football in hand on the couch or in person. He moved back to Cushing in 2012, where he worked as a welder, continued hunting and fishing in his spare time, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Lee, siblings, Gena and Rick, along with his daughter, Sarah, and son, Justin.

He leaves behind two daughters, Kerri Hysaw and Cheyenne Bass, and three sons, Hunter Keyworth, Braden Bass and Wyatt Bass.

He was a prank filled grandpa to 11 kids, Hayden, Tylan, Natalia, Timbraly, Isaiah, Daleighysa, Xaine, Justin, Jaxton, Lillian and Creek.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Hunter Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.

Sarah Leigh Bass
July 9, 1989 ~ June 12, 2020


Sarah Leigh Bass, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 31.

Sarah was born on July 10, 1989 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Gerald and Peggy [Blue] Bass.

Sarah attended school in Cushing. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her children.

Sarah loved to travel around the country. She had pretty much been everywhere. Sarah liked to visit with others and have everyone laughing. We will miss her beautiful smile and her contagious laugh.

She has 4 kids that she loves so much. Tylan Blaize Bass 12, Timbraly Skye Shadowen 11, Daleighysa Rae Bass 9, Xaine Izek Cox 7.

She leaves behind Siblings, Kerri Hysaw, Hunter Keyworth, Cheyenne Bass, Braden Bass and Wyatt Bass. Father, Gerald Bass.

Nieces and Nephews, Hayden Bass, Isaiah Hysaw, Natalia Hysaw, Justin Hysaw, Lillian Hayne, Jaxton Keyworth.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, Ok. Pastor Steve Jordan will officiate. Interment will follow at Hunter Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.

Justin Kelly Bass
September 10, 1991 ~ December 24, 2011


Justin Kelly Bass, a longtime Cushing area resident, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the age of 20 years.

Services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.

Tribal Sac & Fox Burial Rites will be held on Monday evening at the First Indian Baptist Church, Cushing, OK. Burial will be held immediately following the completion of the tribal rights on Tuesday morning in the Hunter Cemetery, Cushing, OK.

Justin was born on September 10, 1991 in Cushing, OK. He was raised mostly in Cushing and Salina, OK. He enjoyed eating, playing video games, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his father, Gerald Bass; three sisters, Kerri Hysaw, Sarah Cox, and Cheyenne Bass; two brothers, Wyatt Bass and Braden Bass; five aunts, Jane Bass, Sue Bass, Judy Fields, Debbie Primeaux, and Nellie Yarholar; six uncles, Eric Bass, Dewey Bass, Joey Bass, Sammy Bass, Monty Bass, and Bobby Blue; three nieces, Natalia Hysaw, Timbraly Shadowen, and Daleighsya Bass; three nephews, Hayden Taylor, Isaiah Hysaw, and Tylan Bass; 22 cousins, Jordan, Jared, Jessica, Julianne, Ashley, Clint, Clay, Adri, Carlos, Andi, Graham, Courtney, Jo Jo, Jacob, Holly, Eilene, Tommy, Wesley, Monica, Chebon, Miaha, and Cheyenne; and other relatives and friends.

Justin was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Blue; grandparents, Earline Webb, Floyd Blue, Lee Bass, Jr., and Lillian Bass; one aunt, Gena Wesley; and one uncle, Ricky Pratt.
