George E. Villers

George E. Villers, a former Cushing resident, now of Bowie, TX, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 in Bowie, TX at the age of 98 years.

The son of the late Charles Franklin Villers and Almeda Scott Villers, George was born on November 29, 1912 in Weston, West Virginia.

He came to Oklahoma with his parents and family as a small child, settling in the Quay community, where he was raised and educated.

He was united in marriage to Ruby Reese on June 30, 1935 in Collinsville, OK and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2005.

George was retired from Sun Oil Company.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was also a member of the Elmore City Masonic Lodge #533; a veteran of the United States Army and enjoyed fishing and traveling in his travel trailer.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at 2 P.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Reverend Ted Uhlig, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Cushing, officiating.

The American Legion Post #108 will provide the military portion of the services.
