Catherine Purcell, retired librarian and longtime Cushing resident, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 in Ada, OK at the age of 93 years.

The daughter of the late Archie D. Clark and Frances Patten Clark, Catherine was born on Dec. 7, 1917 in New Hope, OK.

Following high school, she attended Oklahoma Baptist University, and later the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics.

Catherine was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, serving as Sunday school secretary for grade one for many years and took great pride in her church work. She enjoyed gardening, watching and caring for birds and animals and she was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Eileene Walker of Oklahoma City, Jeanne Keck of Missouri, David Clark of Ada, Ed Clark and his wife Charlotte of Allen, OK and Phyllis Gault of Oklahoma City; special friends Mike and Cathy Lessley of Cushing, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters, including a sister Marie Clark of Cushing.

Funeral services held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Ralph Hickman officiating.
