Don E. Onstott

Don E. Onstott, retired from the City of Cushing street department, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at his residence at the age of 81 years.

The son of the late Daniel E. and Violet Blackburn Onstott, Don was born on July 13, 1927 in Bristow, OK. moving to Cushing as a small child and was reared and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1945.

Following High School, Don enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II.

After returning home from the Navy, he worked in the oilfields and the family business, Gordon’s Ice Cream.

He was united in marriage to Ramona Barton on June 19, 1953 and to this union two children, Kurt and Danea were born.

In 1967 Don was employed with the City of Cushing retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service.

He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and his favorite pastime was duck hunting with his son and grandsons.

Survivors include his wife Ramona of over 55 years, of the home; one son Kurt Onstott and his wife Karen of Cushing; one daughter Danea Courtright of Cushing; three grandsons, Kyle Courtright, Ryan Courtright both of Cushing and and Josh Onstott of Stillwater; Aunts Mary Chapman and her husband Ted of Newkirk, OK and Laura Wales of Arkansas City, KS, and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 10 AM. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Bob Vaught officiating.
