William Edgar "Ed" Morton

William Edgar “Ed” Morton, lifelong resident of the Cushing area, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in the Westhaven Nursing Home at the age of 80 years.

The son of the late Edgar Andrews Morton and Ruby Amanda Young Morton, Ed was born on May 3, 1927 in Cushing, and was reared and educated in the Cushing and Council Valley Community, graduating from Norfolk School.

He was united in marriage to Eva M. Harris on November 10, 1946 in the Council Valley Baptist Church and to this union five children, Betty, Ruby, Kathy, Roberta and Sheila, were born. Eva preceded him in death on March 7, 2004.

Ed was a member of the Council Valley Baptist Church; was a former member of the CB club; he enjoyed the outdoors, especially raising pecans.

Survivors include his five daughters, Betty Bullard and her husband Bruce of Glencoe, Ruby Rogers and her husband Phil of Cushing, Kathy Spears and her husband Tim of Pawnee, Roberta Smith and her husband Marty of Drumright and Sheila Romine and her husband Loyd of Stillwater; one sister, Margaret Johnson of Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Violet Harris of Yale, Virginia McCellin of the Village in Oklahoma City and Florene Clanahan and her husband Dudley of Carrizo Springs, TX; nineteen grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including a special friend of the family Pat Campbell, who was like a daughter.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in the Council Valley Advent Christian Church with Reverend Steve Tiger officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers will be six grandsons, Darren Blumer, Gary Rogers, Brent Banks, Thomas Tharp, Eric Romine and Loyd Romine.
