Raymond Ray Birdsong
August 30, 1914 ~ October 17, 1990


Funeral services for Raymond R.Birdsong, 76, of Cushing, will be held at 2p.m. Saturday October 20, 1990 at the First Baptist Church in Cushing. Reverend David G. Plank will officiate at the church service and following interment in the Fairlawn Cemetery, N. of Cushing.

Funeral services and following interment will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing, Oklahoma.

Raymond was born August 30, 1914 in Soper, Oklahoma to the late Marion & Hattie [Anderson] Birdsong. He recieved his early education & graduated from the Fox Highschool.

He met & was married to Virginia [Hobbs] on June 11, 1939 making their first home in Fox, OK.

They lived in Wilson, Oklahoma before moving to Cushing in 1954.

Raymond worked as a Production Superintendent for the Woods Oil & Gas Company.

Mr Birdsong also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Mr Birdsong departed this life on Wednesday October 17, 1990 at the Cushing Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Virginia Birdsong of the home in Cushing. One son, Bobbie Ray Birdsong of Del City, OK, 2 daughters, Shelia Ryan of Oklahoma City & Debbie Faubian of Oolagah, OK. One brother, Alvin Joe Birdsong of San Diego, California, 7 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, & sisters.

Elenor Virginia "Gin" [Hobbs] Birdsong
May 29, 1918 ~ March 8, 1997


Funeral services for Virginia Birdsong, 78 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 1997 at the Palmer Funeral Home. Chapel Rev. Ben Williams will officiate with interment to follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery north of Cushing. Funeral Services will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing, Oklahoma.

Born May 29, 1918 in West Virginia to Lee & Ella [Sprouse] Hobbs, she was a graduate of the Beggs High School.

She was married to Ray Birdsong on June 11, 1939 in Beggs, Oklahoma & also had lived in Fox & Wilson, Oklahoma. They moved to Cushing in 1954.

After the death of her husband, Ray in 1990, Mrs. Birdsong had lived in Oolagah & at the time of her death was living in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Birdsong had been employed at Helen's Dress Shop & also at Billingsley both in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Mrs Birdsong died on Saturday, March 8, 1997 at the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Survivors include; one son Bobby Ray Birdsong of Del City; 2 daughters Shelia Ryan of Oklahoma City & Debbie Faubian of Durant, Oklahoma; brother Larry Hobbs of Fairfield, Ill; 2 sisters Dortha (Dot) Long of Hinton, Oklahoma & Kathleen Hardy of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Birdsong was preceeded in death by her parents, Husband Ray in 1990, 2 sisters Pauleen & Elizabeth & by a brother Bob.

Bobby Ray "Bird" Birdsong
July 6, 1940 ~ July 6, 2020


Bobby Ray "Bird" Birdsong, 80, of Del City passed away July 6, 2020 at his home. He was born 7/6/1940 at his grandparent's home in Dillard, OK to Raymond Ray Birdsong and Virginia Elenore Hobbs-Birdsong. He has two sisters: Sheila Ann Birdsong-Ryan, and Debra Gail Birdsong-Faubion.

Bob married Janet Louise Adams-Birdsong in Cushing, OK on 6/18/1960.

He was a US Marine and served for 8 years.

He owned and operated Bird's Motor Service in Del City for 40 years. He also owned a coin-op laundromat and a car wash.

His favorite hobby was Drag Boat Racing and the engines he built won countless races including two championships in a row in 1981-82 in the Southern Drag Boat Association.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City where he was Baptized at the age of 79.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Birdsong of Del City; His son Dr. David Ray and Rene Birdsong of Nederland, TX; Grandchildren Rachel Elizabeth Birdsong of Dallas, TX, Joshua Ray Birdsong of Beaumont, TX, Carissa Joy Birdsong-Davis husband Jarod of Colombia, MO, John Derek Birdsong and wife Kassidy of Denver, CO, Allyson Birdsong-Cochran and husband Kyle of Dallas, TX, Alexis Birdsong-DeRoin and husband Caleb of Joplin, MO. Two Great-Grandchildren, Dawson and Cecilia Birdsong of Denver. Two Sisters, Sheila Ann and Bruce Ryan of Flower Mound, TX, and Debra Gail and Ronnie Faubion in Durant, OK. Preceded in death by son John Richard Birdsong; his parents Raymond Ray and Virginia Elenore Birdsong.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing, OK.
