Helen Louise [Sidebottom] Barnes
September 18, 1939 ~ August 18, 2016


Helen Louise "Weasy" Barnes died on August 18, 2016 at the age of 76 years. The daughter of the late Earl Sidebottom and Jessie Collins, Weasy was born on September 18, 1939 in Oklahoma City.

She is survived by a sister, Jessie Lucille Benefield of Riverton, Utah; a son, Anthony Earl Barnes; two daughters, Juquita Louise Zinkan of Azle Texas and Jessica Ann Kanehl of Perkins Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Barns and daughter, Sherry Lynn Barnes.

Her proudest moment is when she achieved her GED at the age of 65.

She was a pilot car driver, then went on to drive an over the road rig. She then became a custodian for the Cushing Public School system for over eighteen years, starting at the Middle School and then to Deep Rock.

Flowers were her thing, yellow roses being her favorite. And she loved playing playing Bingo.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Stephen Duane "Steve" Barnes
October 28, 1955 ~ February 12, 2018


Stephen Duane Barnes, longtime Cushing businessman, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, in Galveston, Texas at the age of 62 years.

The son of the late Elvin Bud Barnes and Tina Goucher Barnes, Steve was born on October 28, 1955 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was raised and educated in Waynoka, Oklahoma.

Following high school, he served his Country in the United States Air Force where he was an aircraft maintenance specialist.

Following his discharge he became a HVAC test and balance engineer; moving to Cushing in 1990, where he owned and operated Eagle Test and Balance Company.

Steve was an avid gun lover; he enjoyed fishing, farming and spending time outside at his farm. Steve also enjoyed spending time with others and living life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife Susan of the home; his children, Candyce Barnes of Kirkland, Washington and Alicia Thomasson and her husband John of Coweta, Oklahoma; one sister Kitty Dooley and her husband Mike of Renton, Washington; three grandchildren, Zachary, Aurora and Ariel, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Church of God, with Pastor Kevin Clouse officiating.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1 to 6 p.m., and on Monday, February 19 from 8a.m. to 8 p.m., in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home. The casket will not be opened at the church.
