Precious Nadene Fillmore – Daves, 101, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away October 7, 2021 in Oklahoma City. She was born October 31, 1919 to the late Arthur and Lela Fillmore.
Nadene graduated from Crescent High School in 1937. She was President of her Senior class. She worked at Kress Department Store in Guthrie from 1937 to 1942. She then went to work for AT&T as a long distance telephone operator for many years. She loved to tell how she would answer “Number Please?” and assist customers making calls across the globe. She and her husband owned Johnny Daves Electric for over 50 years.
Nadene met the love of her life, Donald “Johnny” Daves while he was working at his family’s service station north of Guthrie. Johnny proposed to Nadene on Wildcat Curve by the Cimarron river between Guthrie and Mulhall. They were married February 1, 1942. They celebrated 66 years together. During those years they enjoyed their beautiful home they built in 1954 and their prized rose and flower gardens. They traveled the nation showing roses and acting as judges. They were members of the American and Oklahoma rose societies and were consulting rosarians. They also enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Branson, and on countless other adventures. Her weekly card games with friends were a great joy to her. Johnny and Nadene also loved going to Byron Berline’s show as often as they could.
Nadene was baptized and loved her Lord. She was a longtime member of Noble Avenue Baptist Church.
Nadene was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Daves, Daughter Sue Ahlden and son-in-law Donovan Ahlden.
She is survived by her grandson Warren Ahlden and wife Kim Ahlden of Okarche, Oklahoma and much loved friends Joann and Patty Martin.
