Phoebe Opal (Diamond) Headman

Phoebe Diamond Headman, resident of White Eagle, passed on her birthday, Thursday, August 25, 2011 at St. Anthonys Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was 83 years of age.

Phoebe was born August 25, 1928 at White Eagle, the daughter of William Diamond and Jeanette Raise the Others. Phoebe was a member of the Bear Clan of the OtoeMissouria Nation. She attended the Pawnee, Oklahoma grade school and graduated from the Chilocco Indian School. She was married to William Richard Willie Jones in 1950.

She had been employed for many years as a medical assistant and had worked at Westminster Village, St. Joseph Medical Center, and the Ponca Nursing Home. She had also worked with Hospice and was also a private duty nurse. Her enjoyments were her grandchildren and family whom she loved very much, doing bead work and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her four children, Vicki Thomas of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jeanette Pappan of Oklahoma City, Veronica Talamantes of Oklahoma City and Farrell Jones of El Reno one brother, Marvin Diamond Sr. her grandchildren, Christopher Thomas, Marcos Thomas, Kaylie Thomas, Eugene V. Pappan, Lana, Deloris, William, Willimenia, Samuel Talamantes, Lorenzo Talamantes, Adam Talamantes, Kimberly Seeley, Traci Seeley, Vanessa Seeley, Nicole Jones, Farrell Jones Jr., Tiffany Jones, Big Elk Jones, Joshua Jones, Emalyne Jones, Tyler Miller, Justin Miller, Maria Miller, Veronica Miller, Victoria Miller, Janell Pesina, Elizabeth Ewing, Henry Patterson and an adopted grandson, Michael Seeley.

She was preceded in death by her parents two husbands, William Willie Jones and Isaac Headman one son, Ricky Jones two daughters, Kay Jones Pesina and Bridgette Jones Hellon two twin granddaughters, Estelle and Stella two brothers, Bert Diamond and Landreth Diamond.

A noon meal will be served on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the OtoeMissouria Tribal Complex with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m..

Burial will be in the OtoeMissouria Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
