Joyce Yvonne Burgess Castillo passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017. She was a patient at OU Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was 82 years old.

She was born on September 15, 1935 to Mark Anthony Burgess, Sr. and Iola Plumley Burgess in Pawnee. She attendee Red Rock schools. Throughout her lifetime, she lived in Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona. She was a member of the Otoe Baptist Church of Red Rock. She enjoyed reading, dancing, sewing and especially playing bingo. She was very fond of pictures and her family. She worked as a boiler maker in the construction industry which included helping build the OG&E plant in Red Rock.

She is survived by her children, Carla Leftwhich, Tony True, Donita Cheshire, and Carl Meredith; ten granddaughters; five grandsons; siblings, Curtis Burgess of Red Rock, Bonnie Diedrich of Marshall, and Jackie Cardenas of Guthrie, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Margurite Iola, sisters Jewell, Maggie, and Ann and brothers Sonny, Mark, and Ralph.

A traditional Native America service will be held at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Center in Red Rock, OK.

Traditional noon feast with burial to follow at Otoe Missouria Burial Grounds on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Services in care of Grace Memorial Chapel.
