Dawnell Ann Burgess, 66, of Enid, Oklahoma passed away. A traditional Otoe-Missouria tribal service will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Complex in Red Rock.

Dawnell was born on December 11, 1951 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Darnell B. Burgess and Betty Lou Hopkins Burgess. She worked as a clerk in the retail industry, as well as making and selling beautiful jewelry. Her original designs were well known in the area. She enjoyed attending pow wow’s and loved to dance. She was very artsy and was always working on some sort of craft. She was a lifelong member of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. She loved her pet cats and was seldom seen without a few around. She liked to listen to classic rock n’roll music. When they were younger, her and her sister made up a dance to the song “Sugar” by the Archies. They made their brother, Darnell watch them do the “Sugar Dance” repeatedly no matter how much he complained.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Joann Lack, Son Daniel Burgess, several grandchildren, sister Tina and husband Monte Simmons, brother Darnell and wife Tina Burgess, and brother David and wife Wendy Burgess.

She was a dear sweet mother, sister, aunt and friend. All who knew her will miss her.
