Vergil Eugene Atkins Sr

Vergil Eugene Atkins Sr, resident of Red Rock, Oklahoma passed away at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City on Sunday, August 28, 2022. He was 62 years of age.

Vergil was born on February 27, 1960, to Baxter Davis and Virgie Rachel (Wildbird) Atkins. He was a member of the Otoe Missouria Tribe and of the Pigeon Clan.

Vergil grew up and attended school in Red Rock, Oklahoma. On January 21, 1982, Vergil married Laetitia Breslin in Noble County. He was employed with Kay County District 1 as a grader operator until his retirement in 2019. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could be found on his bike headed to a poker run or out to Bikes, Blues and BBQ. He also spent time out in the field hunting for wildlife and making deer jerky.
 

Vergil is survived by his wife, children, Vergil Eugene Atkins, Jr, Justin Jefferson, Tammy Atkins, Michelle CriesForRibs and husband Kenny. His grandchildren, One sister, Mickie Oulds of Ponca City, His brother, Jim Atkins of Stillwater, and a host of nieces and nephews.
 

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Vernon Atkins Sr., Gilbert Atkins, Aaron Atkins, Wilson Atkins and sisters, Alberta Kirn, Jackie Deere and Lillie Rose.
 

Viewing and Prayer services will be held Tuesday night at 7:00 PM in Red Rock, OK at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Building.
 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday August 31, 2022, beginning with a meal at Noon, at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Building in Red Rock, OK. Graveside Services to follow at Otoe-Missouria Cemetery.
 

Pallbearers will be J.R. Atkins, Aaron Atkins, Billie Bussey, Waylon Atkins, J.J. Jefferson, Timbo Wine, Curtis Burgess, Bert McBlair. Honorary Pallbearers will be Will Kirn, David Williams, Josh McBlair, Willie Burgess, Vernon Tohee, Shawn Littlecrow, Corey Deere, Shawn Kirn and Floyd Roubideaux.
