Elma Ann (Kilgore) Boies

Elma Ann (Kilgore) Boies
January 30, 1934 ~ April 4, 2023

Elma Ann Boies passed peacefully at home, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. She was born January 30, 1934, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Elmer Manson "EM" and Clara Lee (Caldwell) Kilgore. Soon after, the family moved to Muskogee where she grew up with her older brothers, Charles Lee and James Edward along with her sister and best friend, Normagene, whom she loved dearly. Ann attended Irving Elementary, Alice Robertson Junior High and graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1952.

Her curls and cute figure in a cheerleading uniform caught the eye of a tall, lanky boy named Bill who'd just moved to Muskogee his senior year from Clinton, Oklahoma. Once they met in the admin office, they were together for the rest of their lives. They married in June 1952 and lived in Norman, Oklahoma where they attended the University of Oklahoma. They lived in a small upstairs garage apartment where they enjoyed almost every OU football and basketball game while there. Their first daughter, Rebecca Ann, was born in Norman in 1954 and shortly after graduation, they moved to San Antonio, Texas where Bill was stationed with the US Army at Fort Sam Houston. Their second child and son, William Wesley was born in 1957 while they lived there. After Bill's discharge, they moved and made their home in Muskogee, Oklahoma where a daughter, Andrea Leigh, was born in 1960.

Ann faithfully supported her husband and created a beautiful and loving home, raising their family, and managed for many years, along with her sister, several of the family businesses, Morgan's Therapeutics, Main Welding Supply and Lynch Supply Company. Ann also owned and operated a wonderfully unique antique shop, The Countryside, as a passion and hobby. Along with antiquing and collecting Southwest Art, she was a Master Gardener, hiked many of Colorado's trails and skied into her late 70s. She took two arduous hikes in Colorado in her mid-60s where she packed food and water on dogs, caught fish with her bare hands, and slept under lean-tos. Her guide and fellow hikers declared her to be "bad to the bone!" Ann cooked and created many delicious meals and fed family and neighbors on many occasions. Ann and Bill fell in love with southwest Colorado having two homes there which they enjoyed for over thirty years as they traveled throughout the southwest together, collecting art, rugs, paintings, and sculptures along the way.

Ann was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church in Muskogee, and her strong faith was the foundation of how she lived her life. She taught Sunday School, led a young married couple's class and especially enjoyed her special young Christian friends she taught in her "Joy of Living" class. She gave generously and supported the Baptist Children's Home as well as many other charities.

Preceding her in death were her parents EM and Clara, brothers Charles and Jim and sister Normagene. She also loved and lost her three golden retrievers Jazz, Lincoln, and Tag. She is survived by her loving husband Bill, of the home, daughter Rebecca Garrett and husband Roger of Oklahoma City, son Wesley Boies and wife Parris of Tulsa and daughter Andrea Wilcoxen and husband Jim of Muskogee. Eight grandchildren, Leigh Dudley, Megan Dominguez and husband Julio, Grant Boies and wife Allyson, Ben Boies and wife Gamalys, Taylor Abbott and husband Kyle, Jimmy Wilcoxen and wife Laura, Ellen Roosevelt and husband Vlad and Cal Wilcoxen and wife Ruth. Thirteen great-grandchildren, Lola, Oliver and Belle Dudley, Avery and Lane Foreman, Leo Dominguez. Teddy Boies and Isla Sofia Boies. Henry, James, and Elliot Abbott. Frances and Sevy Roosevelt.

There was only one Annie Kilgore Boies - she lived a full, wonderful, and purposeful life and we know her Heavenly Father has welcomed her into His loving arms. She will be greatly missed but will live in each of our hearts. How blessed we were to have her in our lives.

At Ann's request, please consider a donation to the Baptist Children's Home in lieu of flowers.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday, April 10, 2023 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee. Family will greet guests from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Muskogee. Elma will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery of Muskogee after a private family committal ceremony. Services in care of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
