James Cemetery
aka James & Mahardy Family & Jollyville Cemetery
Knapp Road, Davis, Murray County, Oklahoma

© Dennis Muncrief & Area Coordinators

This African American cemetery is located 2 miles south and 1/2 mile east of Davis, Murray, OK. The cemetery is located on property still owner by descendants of the James family. The James family does not mind persons entering the property to view the cemetery without prior permission. The cemetery is in "fair" condition and is overgrown with grass and weeds. One interesting monument is that of Richmond Kimbale who was a "Buffalo Soldier" with the 10th U.S. Cavalry. This registry was completed on May 17th, 2000.
There is a large pile of native stone with a name carved into one of them "Joanna Bruner"
If you have family buried in the James Cemetery or can take a gate photo or have obits (with newspapers permission or an obit that you can write) or tombstone photos or individual portraits or can write a short bio or have a history of the cemetery and would like to add your information to this website, contact the area coordinator for more information.
