George Washington Rhodes
July 09, 1874 (ca 1871) - July 28, 1934

George W Rhodes died suddenly in his home Saturday night, the cause being dropsey. He had been ill with this disease for some time but his sudden death was a shock to the people of Watson.
Mr. Rhodes was 63 years of age, having spent most of his years here in Watson, McCurtain Co., OK.
He is survived by his wife, one son Buddy Rhodes, four daughters, Mrs. Herman Lewis, Mrs. Hattie Washington, Mrs. Pete Jones and Clara Rhodes. Funeral services were held in the Watson Cemetery Sunday afternoon.

George Washington Rhodes born July 09, 1874 (ca 1871) in Logan Co., AR., to William Roden (Rodes) and Minerva McClennon-Roden (Rhodes), and died at home on July 28, 1934 at Watson, McCurtain Co., OK.
He married Georgia Ann Davis-Norton at Mena, Polk Co., AR on April 14, 1900. He was a sawmill worker and farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; One infant child, one son, Van H Rhodes, three brother in laws, James Allen, William McCray, James Webb ; two sisters, Martha Rhodes-McCray and Paralee Rhodes, several infant nieces and nephews and nephew William Webb. (Van H Rhodes, James Webb and William Webb was killed in a sawmill explosion near Watson, McCurtain Co., OK., July 15, 1910).
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Ann Davis-Rhodes of the home; one son, A. C. (Buddy) Rhodes; four daughters, Hattie Rhodes-Washington and husband Esiah Washington, Ollie Rhodes-Lewis and husband Herman Lewis, Nora Bell Rhodes-Jones and husband Pete Madison Jones and Clara Rhodes; three sisters, Nancy Rhodes-Allen, Sara Rhodes-Webb and husband Abner Webb and Emeline Rhodes-Webb; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
