Alton Wade, age 101, of Okla. City, passed away Wednesday December 20, 2017.
Thurman Alton Wade was born November 8, 1916 in Lexington, Oklahoma, the youngest of 12 children born to Joseph Nelson Wade and Dora Samantha (Usery) Wade. He was raised east of Lexington and attended school in the Fair View Community. On August 19, 1940, Alton married his best friend and life partner Emalee Smith. They made their home in Okla. City where together they raised four children, daughter Diana and sons, Douglas, Bryce and Greg. Alton worked as a forklift driver for the Wilson Foods Company. He was a hard worker and a great provider, retiring after more than 31 years of dedicated service. When not working, Alton enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was a great mechanic and enjoyed working in the pits while his sons raced for 40 years in open wheel dirt track racing. Alton loved to travel, and a couple times a year he and Emalee would head west to California to see family. Alton loved life and had a wonderful wit about him. He often credited this to his secret for living. He was a proud member of the Centenarian Club. He will be remembered as a Christian man who was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and good friend. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His wife, Emalee Wade; Parents, Joseph and Dora Wade and His siblings, Infant Bertie, Letha, May, Myrtle, Lillie, Dan, Gilbert, Ed, Bill, Jim and Henry.
Alton is survived by: His daughter, Diana Davis of Norman; His sons, Douglas Wade and wife Florence of OKC, Bryce Wade and wife Maxine of Blanchard and Greg Wade and wife Diane of Moore; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; 4 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and A host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 22, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell
Burial will
follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
