June 03, 1927 - December 12, 2019

Thelma Lee (Dow) Carson, former resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away with loved ones by her side on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Fairview, OK with Pastor Derek Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Fairview.

Thelma was born on June 3, 1927 on the family farm west of Fairview to parents Roy Roscoe Dow and Ida Liles (Stucker) Dow.

She and husband Carl lived in Lubock, Texas from 1965 to 1973 where they operated the Broadway Drug, they then moved to Ponca City in 1973. Thelma worked at Paris Furniture for eight years. She later worked for the Security Bank for ten years before retiring in 1992.

Thelma was a graduate of Cheyenne Valley High School in the class of 1945. She was a member of the Northeast Baptist Church of Ponca City. She enjoyed sewing, china painting and was an avid gardener. In her retirement years she was a daily visitor with friends at the Braums in Ponca City. Thelma was known as a generous and unselfish woman and enjoyed helping others. She loved her family and was always willing to be a part of their lives.

Thelma is survived by two daughters, Sharlyn K. Kohler and husband Ernest and Glenda F. Henry and husband John; three grandsons, Christopher Kohler, John David Henry and wife Rachael and Michael Henry and wife Lanay; one great-granddaughter Evelyn and a great-grandson on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; four brothers and two sisters. Memorial donations may be made to Northeast Baptist Church of Ponca City or the charity of donors choice with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK, 73737.
